favorite moments in musicals | “i am the one (reprise),” next to normal
I am the one who watched while you died
The whole show leads up to this moment; obviously, there is Dan finally naming Gabe, but I find the physicality of it to be so moving on a kind of basic level that it is fucking sublime. The fact that Gabe spends the entirety of the show dancing around everyone except Diana and very purposefully not touching them, but then just full-on grabs Dan and presses himself against him is just, UGHHHH, everything about it is so deliberate but at the same time so raw. The first time I saw the show, the initial contact between them caused me to have a physical reaction: I remember exactly how my chest seized up, and I do not think I will ever forget it. THIS MOMENT IS SO GOOD, IT IS PERFECT, IT IS THEATER AT ITS FINEST, and that is not even touching on how the piece of music itself so fucking beautiful and ugh reprises in general THE THINGS YOU DO TO ME and also those harmonies, I want to make out with Tom Kitt’s talent, ETC.
basically: LOOK AT AARON TVEIT’S FACE THERE AND TRY NOT TO BE MOVED. I DARE YOU. goddamn.
